Mighty Kids Arise hits the 100 mark!
Mighty Kids Arise happens on 14 April 2012, on Global 4/14 day. South Africa is one of +- 40 countries which are part of an initiative where the children of each country lead their respective countries in prayer and worship and to hear from God what is on His hart for their countries.
Nationwide there are over 100 Mighty Kids Arise events for our children which will happen simultaneously. It might well be one of the first occasions in the history of our country where so many kids are ministered to in such a focussed manner. Towns of interest who are participating are Eendekuil, Oviston, Springbok, Griekwastad, Hotazel, Melkhoutfontein, Sekhukhune and even Orkney! Every province is amply represented and even a few outside our borders are joining us. However, we still need a few other neighbouring countries higher up in Africa in order to better represent Southern Africa.
More than a 100 countries are part of the Global 4/14 day, where the parents and leaders on this day pray and fast for these children (4 – 14 year olds), while the children themselves make several word proclamations over our country.
Even the music for this occasion was especially produced so that all those participating may be on the same page for the day. Johan Kelber enormously enjoyed himself reworking well-known songs for the praise and worship part of the day as well as the official “Arise” song which was written by Brendon and Cathie Clancy from Australia.
Juzaan van Zyl, the project leader of Mighty Kids Arise, led hundreds of kids in prayer at a preliminary event of Mighty Kids Arise, together with Ilene Van Niekerk and the Mighty Kids Arise children’s band. Even now, messages from God heard through the voices of children are: “We shouldn’t be shy in asking God for things, stand up and every day ask Him for things which are on your heart.” A 9-year old has a vision of children in heaven with the message: “We should not hate people.” A 7- year old says: “Believe in Jesus, He will walk with you, do not be afraid, He is with you always.” An 11-year old told other children that God wants them to tell other people that they are special, and that they should hand their worries to God. “Look forward, not backward, Jesus will be with you always.” At Delmas Primary School, a young 10-year old girl walks onto the stage in front of 850 other children with Ephesians 6:1-3 on her heart and says: “Honour your father and your mother, so that you may live for a long time and love your neighbour as much as you love yourself.” Prince, a young man of God, 13 years old, declares under loud applause: “Each of us has opportunities by which we can live, do not think that you will never become someone worthy when you are big. You will always be someone worthy; I see joyousness and lots of light. Believe in yourself, trust God and continue to pray, God will always be with you.”
Wynand Coertzen of Transforming Kids, the South African convener and promoter of Mighty Kids Arise, had the following to say about the buying-in of our country to this vision: “In my wildest dreams I never thought that so many institutions would welcome this opportunity to give the 4 – 14 year olds a chance. At Mighty Kids Arise! The children have a very important role to play: “It is Time” for them to enter into the presence of God with praise and worship, that they arise as a generation which has been set aside for His work and that adults and leaders fast and pray for this generation on the “Global 4/14 Day”.
